I turn the heat down to 45 degrees.
BUT - What if there is a POWER OUTAGE?
I live in western New York. I would not enjoy myself worrying about a power outage. So I turn off the water. I have a basement so it is easy for me to drain my lines by turning off my water heater and connecting a hose to it and draining it out to the basement drain. I open all of the other faucets which allows the water to drain out.
Once done I pour rv antifreeze down drains and to fill toilet trap.
All this PLUS I keep the heat running = PEACE OF MIND.
It actually does not take long to do.
