I gave my wife a floorpan of a Tiffin Allegro 36LA and Newmar Canyon Star 3710 both are bath and a half and 38' in length. The plans are very similar with center salon but she chose the Newmar because it has a stackable washer & Dryer in a cabinet by the kitchen. The Tiffin has a combo washer/dryer in a cabinet under the countertop in the master bath.Most agree that the Tiffin and Newmar are the top gassers but should we really choose a motorhome based on the washer and dryer?

All things being equal. Yes. If mama isn't happy... And the stackable ones are much better than the all in one.

The Canyon Star is a good motorhome from a quality manufacture. If the wife likes the motorhome AND it houses the washer / dryer that she will use, then I fail to see the question.

Tiffin has one black tank dump station and the Newmar has two dump stations. My wife doesn't know or care about that, but I do!So you really give up that much with a combo? If its that bad it makes one wonder why a coach builder would use them? If I owned a company I wouldn't want to lose business over a combo washer/dryer!

Best thing about the combo unit is you can start it and walk away. No need to sit and wait for washer to finish and switch loads. In Europe there are tons of combo units in the sticks and bricks homes.Ps Tiffin rear bath has much more room to move around and actually dry off after having a shower. Try turning around in the Newmar bath. Oh yes and no counter space either.Also has an extra reclining chair in living area where Newmar places the stackables.

Sorry oldme, we were posting at the same time. And in truth, I'd not even show my wife a floor plan I didn't like. But as it happens we both like the same things. I maybe could have gone with the combo. But I'm lucky I know it now because it could be trouble in the future.

If the washer and dryer are the MOST important things to you...the yes.

OK, I read the title again. No, and yes.
I would NOT select our entire motorhome based on type of washer/dryer arrangement. HOWEVER, I simply would select the entire motorhome based on MANY things, PLUS it has to have a stacked washer and dryer.

We have the all in one and it is certainly longer to do a load of clothes in it versus the stacked. One thing I would say to you, is make sure whatever you decide, to get a vented unit/units. if they are not vented it takes forever for laundry to dry.

About the gasser or the diesel, had both. More power with the diesel. Makes a huge difference going over the blueridge.

Perhaps the wife should just stay at home with her residential laundry duo. You could UPS your laundry overnight and have it back the next day. Some people have the strangest priorities in life and I doubt she will like the rv lifestyle.

I was sharing your posts with my wife and she said "It doesn't make much difference does it. Unless I get a stackable washer & dryer, either I'm not going or you're doing laundry"! It's amazing how fast I can be convinced of things at times! ;)

Like I said before the washers on both are the same size the dryer on the stackables are a bit larger ( not much ) the convenience of the stackables is you can wash and dry at the same time if you have 50 amps. The con of a stackable is it takes more space.
