I dislike the side cameras too! I think they're useless! I'm guessing the OP is having issues with lane changes on the highway, not while making low speed turns in town.
When I change lanes, I want to see when my toad clears the vehicle I'm passing. That can't be done by the side cameras because you can't get any depth perception. The only time I find them of any value is maybe once a year to look down the side of the coach when backing in. Even then I have to put the coach in neutral and the turn signal on.
If you have a good set of mirrors, which means a main mirror and convex mirror on each side, you shouldn't have any issues with safely changing lanes.
With all that said, I agree with "Mr.Mark", don't disconnect them, just learn to drive without them. I give a quick turn signal and then turn them off while making my lane change. In town during slow speed turns, leaving the turn signal on really doesn't matter.
