Side trim missing

I have a 1989 Southwind that is missing a piece of side molding that covers the seam of the joining of the top and bottom side panels. Any idea where I can find it, or replace it with something that looks right.

    Maybe this will work.
  • I may be speaking out of place here but in that era Fleetwood used a vinyl molding about 3/4" wide and 3/16" thick to cover the butt joint of the Filon on the sides of the rigs they made. It is applied using double sided tape, not inserted in an aluminum extrusion. I bet that is the molding the OP is speaking of, I know I need some too and it's not available anywhere I've looked. Does anyone know where it can be found?
  • Go to any camping store near you and they will order it for you. I bought a whole roll of it. It just slides in. The repair department at an RV dealership usually has a roll of it or they can order it for you also.
  • Buster52, I have looked for the molding I think you are talking about, without any luck. I just took the RV to storage or I would go out and take a photo of what is on my rig. Mine is held in place with a film of double sided adhesive. If that is what you have instead of the aluminum channel that has a vinyl insert, you may be out of luck. You can try calling Fleetwood although it is a different company now. Walt's RV Parts and Surplus in Fontana may have some. I was going to ask when I was there last but forgot. Also Coast RV Supplies or Parts in Thousand Oaks CA may have some.

I hadn't thought of using aluminum channel and the insert but that may be a fair idea.

PM me if you find the self adhesive vinyl, I would love some in the yellowish, tan color mine was originally.
  • is this what you are looking for. If so there are many sources.
