I disagree. Obviously, if I were staying in a town while visiting the local sites, I'd be in a camp ground.
But if I'm just passing through, and just need some time to sleep and rest before hitting the road again, I'm not going to spend that money to stay in a CG. Doesn't make sense.
Earlier this year, we took a 45 day trip to LA. We stopped to see a lot of places on the way out and coming back. However, our first two days were spent getting to Vicksburg, our first place we were going to visit the sights (Vicksburg National Battlefield). The 1st two nights, we stopped at Walmarts in order to sleep. When we got to Vicksburg, we stayed in a real campground.
