Slide broke

My slide cable broke and I would like to know if this is something you may have fixed yourself or should I get an rv service to repair it. I have 4 cables 2 on each side. I can open it by pulling and pushing the slide button. It is small slide and only goes out about 1 foot maybe 2

  • You actually have 8 cables. You cannot even access the motor and cable mounts in 20 minutes. AND, if the broken cable has untwisted then removing will be a pain. I estimate a minimum of 2.0 hours to do a cable on a Accuslide system. While the on line video looks simple enough, UNTIL YOU ACTUALLY do a few, you realize the difficulty is extreme. 90% of the time, getting the OLD unstranded cable OUT is a pain, especially thru the rollers. Since it is now broken and unstranded, you usually cannot use the Chinese Fingers tool they supply with the new cable kit to easily route the new cable thru the rollers. I figure a Novice will take up to 4 or 5 hours to do the job. Doug

You will need tools. This is a do it yourself if you want, most techs don't know how unfortunately or they don't want to do it.

Fifteen minutes to replace is a bit optimistic I think.
