Slide frame popped out of inside wall !

First things first... 2013 Coachmen Freelander 32BH.

I took it out to a RV resort in Galveston this weekend for a change of scenery saturday night. The drive down and the stay there were just great. Upon packing up to return home Sunday afternoon, I pulled the slides back in as I've done 10's of times before (it's new, so not 100's of times).

The large right side slide that is the double bunks and part of the bedroom made 3 quick LOUD pops as it came in the last few inches. It came in the whole way and stopped, with no indication of anything wrong other than the loud pops.

Upon further inspection, it looks as if the forward upper corner of the frame around the opening, that is screwed into the wall of the RV, popped off. 4 screws have come out of the wall: 2 partially, 1 fully, and one is completely gone.

What appears to have happened, to my untrained eye, is that the forward upper motor stopped short of fully bringing it in. It seems the other 3 kept pulling, and thus pulled the stopped motor along with the gear track, and of course the frame.

So questions now are... how bad is this? Has anyone dealt with this happening before? I know my 1 year bumper to bumper warranty is up on the rig, but surely the slides are covered for more than just that? Is there any hope that I, or shop to be more accurate, can reattach the frame to the wall as opposed to having to replace a whole side of my RV?!

The slide is completely in at this point, and seems sealed with the weather stripping from the outside so it should be as water tight as it was normally. The drive home had me worried but it didn't move at all so I'm pretty sure it's not coming back out unless it's told to. It's back in storage now while I figure out the next step.
  • Yeah. Due to divorce, the extended warranty got a bit screwed up. I think this is going to bite me in the rump here :/ but 2 years? Those slides HAVE to be covered by something! I don't have the manuals anymore either so, I guess I'm calling Coachmen tomorrow.
  • Ouch. Check your manuals and see if thereis a longer warranty on the slides. I hope you bought an extended warranty. Looks like a trip to the dealer or other RV repairer.

    Good luck.
