Slide moving out

Recently my bedroom slide has been moving out while the motorhome is parked in storage. I am checking it every day now and finding it has moved out all the way or maybe 6 inches or so. This is crazy!
Any ideas what causes it or what to do?
Will it move out while the vehicle is in motion? That thought is scary.
  • When we park we always open the slides. Makes the coach more roomy....Dennis
  • If it's a Powergear slide with rack/pinion, the free-wheeling brake on the actuation motor has likely been released. There should be a lever on the motor that is fairly easy to flip back and forth that releases the motor to free-wheel to allow for adjustment. It happened to mine, and although I keep the slide locks in place when going down the road, I noticed in the mirror that the bottom of the slide was slightly out. Took me some thinking on it, but I discovered the motor brake lever, flipped it back and all was good.

    What kind of slide
    Options
Power gear (usually a rack and pinion system)
    electric Work gear drive
    Hydraulic (HTH)
Swinteck or however it's spelled (Wavy track on sides of slide)
    Accu-Slide (Cable cars)

It will help to know what we need to fix.
  • I have some, I guess you call them locks, that clamp on inside the motor home and prevent the slide from moving out especially while moving. They came with the motor home. Might look into something like that.
