slide out lubricating

we have an 8 yr old Itaska Sunova by Winnabego and are wondering
if we should be lubricating the one living room slide out and if
so how. It sounds kind of scratchy going in and out and we don't want to get stuck somewhere.

  • I have a new 2014 Winnebago Vista 35B. The slides were making very loud squeaking noises (Friction squeaking) as I drove. I called Winnebago and they said that "CRC Super Lube with Teflon - The Green Can" is the ONLY lube to use on the Schwintek assemblies. I searched for it but it is only available online or at industrial supply houses.
I wrote to Winnebago and recommended that they lube their slides as part of the manufacturing process and include a supply of this unique lube with their coaches - just like the touch-up paints. I also asked them to send me a supply of it since it is unique and not readily available.
    Hope this helps.
  • Good idea to look on youtube! Found several videos on the subject
so will see what happens. Thanks also for the quick response........
  • I have used (wet) teflon spray on mine all these years. It probably attracts some dirt but if I drive for a long ways or in dusty conditions, I simply spray it down again (takes 30 seconds) and it rinses any dirt off and so far I have no accumulation of crud. I can also tell you that the slide moves much faster and smoother after the tracks are lubed.

Several brands of slide lubricant sold at any RV dealer and several YouTube vids on how to do it.
  • Do not use anything oily. Use a dry Teflon spray or dry silicone spray. Oil will attract dirt and road scum and will gum up the works. I use a dry Teflon spray on my slides.
