Slide out operation

On an HWH slide, will the coach not being level enough cause the slide to not operate. I have one that will not work,,,, sometimes. I can mess with it for a while and then it will go out or come in, depending on which position it is in when it decides to 'delay' working. If it were a fuse, it wouldn't work at all. I guess it could be a resettable breaker but I haven't found one anywhere. Can being just barely level enough or not being quiet level enough cause it to work "off and on"?
  • There is no sensor or switch that will stop HWH slide rooms from activating if not level. Doug
  • Being off level should not affect the operation. Some HWH jacks are hydraulic, others are electric. If they are hydraulic, check the fluid level as both the jacks and slides operate off of the same pump. Low fluid level can cause air to be pumped into the system resulting in intermittent or non operation.
If you find the fluid level is low, top it off and cycle the system several times to purge the air and top off again..
If the slides are electric, each will have its own motor, and with the intermittent operation it would indicate there is either a faulty connection (loose or corroded), or the motor itself needs attention.

HWH is ONLY Hydraulic. The OP is concerned on the HWH SLIDE not his jacks. Doug

In most applications the hydraulic system uses a single pump for both jacks and slides. I did not say he was concerned with his jacks, rather that if he has that type of system both are normally activated by one pump.
If the reservoir is not full it may not have enough to deploy both jacks and slides. If the jacks are deployed first there may not be enough hydraulic to deploy the slides and vice-versa.
  • You might have a bad selector switch. If it works sometimes and then it does not, it sounds to me like the switch to activate the movement of the slide might be bad. I had to replace mine a few years back.
  • I have air bags and no jacks. I suppose it's something electrical so I'll start checking connections and switches.
