Slide toppers

Is there a way to adjust the slide topper to get rid of the slack? Water runs down in from of door.

If it is spring loaded, you can put a couple of extra turns on the spring to put more tension on the awning. On my Carefree slide topper, the directions state that you need to make 15 turns on the single spring, if starting from scratch. Some toppers have two springs and if one breaks, they do not have the tension to keep the topper tight. Use caution of you plan to mess with the springs. There is a lot of pent up energy there to bite you.
  • Adding tension will not make a stretched slide cover "taut". Adding too much tension can affect the operation of the slide room when extending. If you want to know if adding tension will help, just go up and grab the awning tube and manhandle it tighter. If manhandling makes it taut then add some tension. The odds are (99%) that adding tension will not help. Doug
  • Some folks use these under the topper while camping! Just don't forget to remove before leaving!
