Slides won't close

Having some issues. I used 2006 Monoco Lapalma a few weeks ago on a weekend trip, had no issues. It has sat in the driveway a couple weeks waiting for me to finish cleaning it up and park it. I went to start the engine the other day and we had to jump it to get it going. Generator took a few tries and shut itself off after a few minutes (did this twice) but then it ran and I left bot run at least 30 min, opened the slides, vacumed and did all my cleaning. I left the slides open, shut everything down. Two days later the generator won't run again without shutting itself off and the house batteries aren't charged at all. I got gen running and engine but slides seem to have no power at all. I checked the breakers includign the one on the generator. Last fall the generator was not staying running and has it serviced and they said it was low on oil and that was why it shut itself off. DH unscrewed a cap on the gen and said it was full of oil and infact started coming out when he opened the cap. I'm in no way mechanical so I don't know if this is proper way to check. Not sure he is a reliable oil checker either.
Any ideas?

  • Dan's got it. Monaco loves interlocks. The slides (and the awnings) will not budge if the key is on, motor running or not
  • I believe your slides are electric, as are mine and my parents (2006 Simba Gas). The slides will not operate with the ignition key on or engine running. I suspect with you engine off your battery is too dead to run the slides also.

You should be able to check the flashing light code on the generator to point you in the right direction. You may need the manual for this as there are many codes and two phases to the flashing codes. I would suspect a gummed up carb as initial stalling is a common symptom. I think the code for fuel delivery problem is 33, but check your manual for how to read the codes.
  • Sounds like you have a bad battery. Take the battery out, fully charge it using a regular automotive charger and then have it load tested. As for the slides? Hydraulic or electric? Can make a difference. But I would first suspect that due to high amperage draw you simply tripped a breaker someplace. Start looking for the bank of resettable breakers. They will be very close to the batteries. Feel around them for a very small button. If one is out, push it in and that should restore power. If your not sure, get out the VOM and start tracing voltage.
  • There is slightly over a half a tank of gas and our gen should run til we get down to 1/4 tank so there should be plenty of gas there to run gen.
Even if the batteries are low shouldn't the slides come in with the generator and engine running?
  • If this is a build in gen. it suck fuel from your fuel tanks on MH. If your MH has a half a tank or less it proble not getting fuel .It a saftey thing so you will allways have fuel in your MH to move it.for your slide. I would say your battery are weak/or low on charge
