These are all great insights! Thanks so much to everyone.
I do know that I'll miss my outside kitchen and the seating. The outside kitchen is re-creatable though, I'll just need to purchase a few things. The seating, well, that's going to be the biggest drawback. We looked at a floorplan with the dinette and sofa, and while I might possibly be able to sleep on the dinette or jacknife sofa, my husband will not be comfortable with that.
Yes it's true, if mama ain't happy...but if daddy don't get a good night's rest it can get ugly too! LOL! I figure, we will be sleeping 8 hours in it every night, rain or shine. Yes, on some rainy days we will be confined to it and miserable, but that is (hopefully!) not going to be an every day occurance, but sleeping definitely is. So sleeping comfort wins that battle.
It's hard to give up storage and amenities once you've had them, but I need only to watch the families who tent camp to remind myself that even a small class C is luxury compared to that!
We did actually look at a 29 footer as well, and I was in the driver's seat ready to take it for a test drive and just turned the ignition off...I knew before leaving the lot I just wasn't comfortable. Sooooo much hanging over that back axle I just didn't trust myself with the tail swing. I KNOW I could get used to it. I've pulled a truck and horse trailer all my adult life so I'm not a total newbie to driving larger vehicles, but I just. was. not. comfortable. And that is my biggest complaint with the current and prior rigs. We don't use them nearly as much as we could becuase there are just so many things to consider (route, will we fit at the campground, do we need to upgrade to a premium or pull through site, etc.).
When we go camping, our friends have all different kinds of rigs. From toyhaulers, to diesel pushers to TTs and a small C. We are jealous of our friend with the small C. :D
