We have a 26 foot and love the smaller size also. We do not pull a toad and in we have been on countless small trips and 3 long trips in the last 4 years and have only needed a car once in all those trips and we just called Enterprise and had them bring a rental out to us. IMHO we will rent a car once in a blue moon rather than go to the expense of sitting a toad up, the reduced gas mileage while towing, and reduced speed limits while towing.
My husband agreed that renting a car if we need one is the way to go. I agree, I'd rather pay the money than have the hassle of towing one. We don't usually leave the campgrounds when we camp, and the only time we did, the campground ran a shuttle so we wouldn't have needed a car anyway.
I've packed it and still have room to spare! :) I'm so excited. I filled up the gas tank and put the kids in and took it to the scale to weigh, and we are only 10,060 loaded (well, that didn't include the hubby!). But still, lighter than I expected and leaves me plenty of cargo carrying capacity on the chevy 4500 chassis.
