A number of years ago I had a bus company as a customer that leased entertainer and special use busses. They were buying shorter (at that time) chassis and stretching them to the 45 ft. length that was then the industry standard.
Obviously they felt the economics of doing so worked for their operation.
My point being, if they could stretch a bus chassis it wouldn't be any more difficult to shorten one. Truck dealers and aftermarket body builders alter the wheelbase on truck cab and chassis all of the time. It is just mechanics and someone able to do the work or willing to pay for what they want.
