My conversion has DOT ratings for roll-over resistance.
Trailers don't matter as you don't ride in them.
Frankly, would I want big floor plan for my family, I would go for a trailer, when I will drive protected by truck cabin. Safety factor is big enough for me, but trailers give you more bang for the buck as well, although I would investigate SuperC with slides as some of them look exiting.
Funny part is, that my pickup has more HP than my 40' conversion, so driving experience is quite different as well.
