Smart Car

Thinking about getting a Smart Car to pull behind my motorhome. I searched on subject but did not find anything. Is there anyone out there that can tell me if it can be done? Anything to look out for? Looked at a guide online and said you can but must be manual transmission. In searching for a Smart Car to buy, they don't list a manual transmission???? Any help?

X10. Add to that the horrific resale of a "smart" car. Although no one pays msrp, it's almost 20k. Just checked, there's 4 of them for sale in my area. Less than 10k miles, selling at 10k. To each their own, but I don't get it.
  • Just love when people have gone thru their own analysis, come up with a solution that works for them and ask questions only to have others hijack their request and offer their own opinions based on their personal wants/needs or analysis.

I've looked into doing this too. There are people who have successfully flat towed the Smart Car and they say a manual transmission isn't required. See this link. One other solution is to trailer the Smart Car and there are a couple of manufacturers that have trailers designed for this purpose. I found four, but only three appear to still be in business. Try this one manufacturer, this one, and this one.
  • You could just as well tow a Chevy sonic and have room for two adults AND Groceries!

  • Here's one way to do it, but it probably won't work on a Class C.....

There are several people on here that do it. The one I like is they use a very small light weight trailer. They'll probably see your post and reply.
