I remember when started turbo-charging diesels the old-timers swore turbo would not last when power was needed for extended time.
I had friends that bought KW at same time. Both geared same, both Cummins. 1 was a 335, the other 350. Most times performance wise, could not tell them apart. Twice the 2 of them tried to run KC to Denver with my 'buzzin dozen. Both times the 335, that did not have the intercooler, melted pistons. Proved to me the turbo was not the weak link.
Don't know if gas would act the same.
