I'm starting to hear this everywhere I ask -- not just here. The girls are getting older, they will want to bring friends (we do this every now and again already), space will be important, etc.
Our grandkids ADORE the tents we bring along for them. We've always done so, beginning with a little "play tent" for each kid so they can spread out their toys etc. And now that she's older, my granddaughter especially much prefers the privacy this affords her/her friend if she brings one. Just got back from a boondocker in Olympic National Forest, and her standup two-person tent was pitched right next to the creek, quite a distance from the trailer. (Though perfectly secure from invaders, I assure you. Except for those of us so-called "grownup" relatives that snuck down there and scared the bejeebers out of them as soon as it got dark. :B )
If your family style is to go/stay at one place for a few days, my suggestion is to think about the tent-as-spare-room approach, which may allow you to buy a smaller rig. Doesn't work as well if you're moving every day, though.
