Personally I would take the intank pump out and throw it in the garbage can. Install a good quality pickup screen. Then go down on the frame and install a good quality pump and inline filter that you can easily access. Did this on our 83 Ford E350 van and never had another problem. Besides it was a lot cheaper than spending 250 dollars for the in tank pump from Ford
Frankly, I don't understand why manufacturers don't have frame mounted pumps. The in-tank pumps are a pain and really expensive to have replaced. I do all the work on my vehicles, and replaced the sending unit on a car once. Never again. Too scary for me.
