Just a suggestion - don't overlook the many superb State, County and City Parks out west, particularly in WA and OR. In four years cruising the area, we used a KOA once and a private CG near Tilamook Air Museum once. Every other CG was in either a State or County park.
Most are laid out with big spaces between campsites, many are in the forests and close to beaches. Two of our favorites in WA are Beebe Bridge County Park, just east of Lake Chelan on the Columbia River, and Deception Pass SP at the northern tip of Whidbey Island. We haven't actually camped at Deception Pass as it's only 20 minutes from home!
