Spare tire question

Those of you that have a Winnebago Adventurer, where do you carry your spare tire.
I just recently put new tires on the coach and before, I never worried about a spare I just always figured I would just buy a new tire if needed. Now that I have found out how hard it is to get the proper size tire. I thought I should carry a spare un-mounted. Then I found out it will not fit in any compartments. Open for ideas. No, I don't think I am man enough to put it on the top and tie it down. I thought I would carry it in the Toad, there again I tow a Jeep Wrangler. Just to small of space for a 22.5 tire.

This was on a 2001 model.

I like the looks of the way you have your spare. I would have to have another hitch put on mine as the receiver only sticks our about 3/4 on an inch. Plus move the license tag and some how figure out where to put it as the tire would cover the spot where it is now. I like your idea, just don't think it would work on mine. Thanks

My 2004 is suppose to have the spare mounted under the bedroom slide under fuel tank. Some came with the mount, mine doesn't have the bracket. Mount. So I wrapped the tire in a blue tarp and used 2 nylon ratchet traps to hold it up.
My 2004 Adventure never came with a spare tire and, I bought my Adventurer new in 2004. Winnebago told me there doing away with spare tires due to back injuries when I asked why my coach didn't have a spare tire in 2004!

They are not doing away of spare tires because of back injuries, they are doing away with them for saving dollars, GM is a great example of that.

  • I had a WorkHorse chassis. No room for spare under ther rear chassis.
The Ford chassis this was possable.
  • My 98 Itasca came with the same hoist as Sooboy suggested and it works quite well.
It's easy to raise and lower but as I get older it's a bear to get the tire (with rim) under and out from under the MH. The tire also extends a little below the frame and I’ve scraped the bottom of the hoist a couple of time coming out of service stations with high curb angles.
