spray lube for jacks?

I'm thinking of lubing my jacks before retracting them. What lube do you use? I heard WD40 attracts dirt, so I'm thinking pure silicone?
  • You do not need to lube the cylinders. When the manual states to wipe with Silicone or WD-40, what they are wanting is to make sure the extended visible cylinder is clean and DRY. You wipe off the lubricant as a cleaning agent. The cylinder is immersed in ATF when retracted, so in a way it is self lubricating. Doug
  • My manual for my HWH jacks recommend spraying with WD-40 and then wiping it off. However, my previous Safari coach (made by Monaco) recommended silicon spray.

    Do what your manual stipulates.

  • Some jacks need lubed and some do not. Check to see what your owner's manual says. If you have the RVA brand jacks and put lube on the extended jack, all you will do is attract dirt.
  • Silicone is a good choice...any of them.
Actually, I have been using WD40 - Silicone for lots of stuff. Works very well.
