A member just posted a cost of near $1,000 for complete scheduld service .He posted in "What did you do to your class b today".

we own a LTV , IMHO there #1 in the building of RV,s ours a 2006 chassis with a 2007 coach mounted on it, the I 5cyc MB diesel is great , ours is the freedom serenity model just a tad bigger than the B,theres nothing better than looking at the log book and seeing over 20 mpg marked , 17teen towing my boat. we,ve made three trips to arizona and ,cruise along at 65 mph. the engine has had two problems a sensor and a air flow part all covered by warrenty. oil change is a $118. bucks every ten thousand miles. .we,ve owned class A @ B @c. even a TT . this is the best of them all . if your ever in canton ohio .stop in. did I tell you we like our LTV.. OH!! we bought the 5 cyc because the rep from MB said the 6cyc only gets 15mpg ,because of the EPA equipt added. glad we listened.

I've had two Sprinter motorhomes (a Class B and a B+), and between them they spent more than sixty days either broken down or in the shop.

One I bought new, so most of the repairs were under warranty. When out of warranty, things got expensive real quick.

Big concerns with Sprinters are:

1. Cost of service
2. Cost of parts
3. Availability of Service (sometimes a few hundred miles away)
4. Body rust on pre 2007 Sprinters
5. Black death (coking)

Sprinters do handle well, are fun to drive (when not in limp home mode), and some go 200,000 miles without any problems.

If my two Sprinters had been reliable, I would have kept one of them.

But now I'm happily driving a Class B on the Chevy platform. Handles nicely, gets decent gas mileage, and if repairs are ever needed, I can find service and parts in every small town in North America.

Love our Sprinter. Bought it used in 2010, have put more than 30,000 miles on it, nary a problem, just routine maintenance. Change our own oil, never a problem finding service in our rural area. Overall average of 23 mpg, often better in the past year. Best fun purchase we ever made.

OVERBROOK , man you got two lemons , never heard of all the problems you,ve had. service is not a problem for our area , MB dealer about ten miles away. I,d never go ford, chevy I like 20 plus mpg compared to 10 mpg .

Well we got 2 pains in the a** Sprinters too. 2008 & '13. Service for us in a metropolitan area of 1 million+ is 40 some miles away. The Freightliner dealer is actually the better & cheaper of the 2 for warranty and non-warranty work in my experience. Definitely for parts if needed.

To 2112 the OP, stick with the pre 2007 T1N 5cyl chassis if you can find the right one, but watch out for rust issues. The 2007 on up V6 is a good engine, but the emissions equipment on them causes all kinds of issues, LHM's, (limp home mode), and compared to the domestic vans, they are extremely complex in their engineering and expensive to repair out of warranty. But that may never rear it's ugly head either.
The 2007's on up do drive wonderful and are very comfortable after you get the seat adjusted correctly. The climate control system is very non intuitive on them also, but can be figured out, if they are working correctly, which neither of ours were initially.
Rust issues are starting to show up on the newer 2007+ NCV3 Sprinters, which in this day and age is silly for that new of a vehicle. (Don't get me started about the body fits and finish on our '13 van)
The '13 will be our last Sprinter RV if/when we ever go for a new one

We have had two sprinters, have had more down time because of the coach components, including high end refrigerator and heaf pump, then we have on the chassis! Service is spendy but take a look at the shop rates at any new vehicle dealer,

We have had no trouble getting service. We use Freightliner authorized service centers. They are all over. We have MB cars and MB dealer service is not the Eldorado. Agree you have to watch for rust on the 2006 and older chassis. Absent that, they are fine. We drive about 25k per year.

We've put on 40k miles on our 2006 Sprinter in the last 2 years without any problems. No rust, no downtime, easy maintenance (DIY) - love the diesel. Not sure how the diesel is more to maintain - seems much easier to me.
