Start button on genset

Left on a trip late this afternoon. Went to start the generator from the start switch on the dash and I get nothing. The start switch doesn't even light up. I checked the start switch on the bedroom and nothing there either. Tried the one on the generator itself and it started fine. It's a pain to open the generator compartment to start it. OH, btw, neither inside switch will kill the generator either.

This is on my 2002 Monaco Windsor with the Onan diesel.

Is there something common between the inside switches that can cause the disconnect? OR any other ideas. I'm in a campground now and will be until mid morning.
  • You should have a 12v panel for your coach relay switches. It should be a 5 amp fuse. Mine is located on the coach system status panel. Good luck.
  • OK, I got it fixed. I had worked on my genset a couple of days ago. I accidentally unplugged a wiring harness. All is well in the world again.

    Thanks
  • Had the same problem a few years ago. Till I could get some place where I could investigate, I carefully measured the switch location on the generator and drilled a hole in the cover, (which is a pain to remove) big enough for a pencil and used that to turn the gen on and off. Later discovered a couple wires coming out of the harness were broken.
