Stealth camping (xplorer?)

I googled dodge xplorer-found several different models so we need more info.

sportsmobiles are the most stealthy.
at least to me.

roadtrek models 170,190,ranger next most stealthy.especially if decals removed.

To me, the dodge Xplorer looks like a RV.

If you really want an under the radar stealth camper, get a plain white work van and convert it to you needs.

You see white work vans everywhere and no one looks at them twice. JMO

FWIW, I think RT's window blackout option makes a big difference in making the RV look like a conversion passenger van. The awning and TV antenna delete option would also help a lot (I rarely use them anyway), and I've even considered magnetic sheets, painted silver, to cover the outside accessory vents when not in use.

Buy whatever you want and save yourself the anxiety of hiding by parking it where you have the property owner's permission or on any public place where it's legal to do so.

I wonder why having a “stealth” camper is even an important issue. The only reason I can think of is to park on a city street and I don’t know why anyone would want to do that. But I have a real dislike for cities and perhaps my bias in coming through. Many people overnight in Walmart parking lots or truck stops in cities and there are other options, too, including free campgrounds. I agree with Francesca’s post, get what you want and park where you can, you’ll have plenty of options.

i have a question-can you get a regular type license plate and still get rv insurance. do you get a choice at dmv at what the plate says. just wondering

My experience has been that there is No such thing as "stealth" if the unit has a generator. If a genny is running, it can and usually is heard.
Also many are aware of campervan units. Refrigerator vents, furnace vent, water heater door. Fairly obvious. We tried staying over night in shopping center parking lots when we first got our Roadtrek. After being told to leave at 2am a couple times, we now head to campgrounds and walmart with permission type parking lots only.

Our new Great West Legend will have a compressor refrigerator (no refrigerator vents) and a diesel-fired furnace and demand water heater (no furnace vent or water heater door). The vehicle will have no RV cutouts at all except a single small plug-in/water-fill port, and we may be able to move that down to the rocker-panel. All this, combined with none of the typical gaudy RV graphics should make it about as stealth as a sprinter can get.
