Just finished reading your entire postings with interest. Wonder what your time line is to finish the van ? Did something like this with a 40 foot sailboat. But never finished as she sunk in the marina and wasn't worth putting the time and effort in after the insurance screwed me. When I first bought it, the surveyor told me to just sail her and have fun.... but like you I was unhappy with a lot of things on the boat, so, lets just get this one thing done, which led to another, and another.... before I knew it I was in to a major restoration.... and then she was in trouble.....
Good thing vans can't sink.... lol. What are your plans for the interior in relation to livability ? Do you plan to put in refrigeration, toilet, water tanks etc ?
Will follow your progress. Wish I had some of your skills, like welding, but I understand that 'almost anyone' can obtain them, given the time and attention they require. I also understand "learning by your mistakes"... or as I call it the school of hard knocks. Not everyone could get thru this though. Many would have given up with the first problems encountered. Also, doing this by yourself, with only a couple of cats to supervise.... is impressive. The felines have trained you well.... BTW, my computers name is hal... has a mind of its own.
So thanks for taking the time to post all this, taking the pictures, resizing them, and the tips and tools your used. Might be I will go a similar route one day, but if not, still enjoy following yours.
