Storage and counter space in a class A with bunks?

So we are looking at class A`s with bunks. One of the issues we keep finding is the lack of counter space! how do you prepare anything or have a coffee maker and toaster (or other appliance) out at the same time? even with the small extension there isn`t enough room. we keep going back to the Fleetwood Storm 32H, although the other manufacturers and models with the bunks have the same issues. even the class C`s

And with the bunks, where do the kids put there clothes? didn`t even think about this until last night when my wife brought it up. we like the models with the bunks that turn into either a couch or dinette on the bottom.

I guess we are just spoiled with our current TT. it has plenty of counter space and the kids bunk bedroom has plenty of drawers and storage for their clothes.

What does everyone else do?

Thanks

  • You’ve touched on something that has been a big complaint of mine for a long time – kitchen space and drawers for clothes.

Either is tough to find in a half-ton towable TT, let alone finding both in one floor plan. Kitchen space doesn’t come easy in a small Class A. It seems the buying public wants a home-like lounge area more, regardless of RV type.

Our situation is a little different, since we are now a retired couple with no children to need regular beds.

One thing we have seriously considered is to buy a bunkhouse Class A of maybe 34 feet, rip out the bunks and use the space for storing one of those kitchen carts (that we could wheel out for more counter space and storage) plus a small dresser for drawers.

For nice kitchen and bedroom drawers, it seems like fifth wheels are where it’s at. No wonder they are the choice of so many retired couples.
