I note that Winnebago and Itasca have this feature. The basement compartments under the slide go out with the slide, so one does not have to crawl under to access the compartments. I haven't noticed...

Dang, and I thought I read them all! To me that was a pretty big issue. I was always having to juggle my parking locations around so I'd have enough room to open the slides. Now that I have my DP and it doesn't have the attached compartments I don't have as many problems, but I do open the slides out over obstructions a lot that would have been problems with the previous motorhome.
Also to the OP, one thing I do when I pull into a campsite is not open the slides first thing. Since I have three slides pretty much every compartment is under them. So I go do all my hookups first and then pull out the chairs and tables and mats all with the slides closed. Then I open them. Then I rarely have to get into the slides while set up camping.
