Storing Batteries in Winter
Just purchased a 2004 BT Cruiser. The previous owner told me that when he stored the motor home for the winter, he never took out the batteries. I have always removed the batteries and stored them...

In the first instance, that's why I said 'an hour or two', you tweak it based on charger output and battery size.
As for the latter part, around here, on a cold night, the temperature drops to -40 deg. F.
Even a healthy battery is challenged at those temps.
