Hi Enblethen,
my hot water heater is on it's last legs. When I got the rig it was leaking through a crack. I had it welded but then I had trouble with it igniting, seems to be a thermostat problem. Since my funds are in short supply I purchased an add-on electric heater that mounts in the drain hole. The electric unit has worked so well I quit messing with the gas part of the heater. However, I may try to fire up the furnace in the next day or so (it's currently pouring rain here in Port Angeles today). I wintered in Sierra Vista in SE Arizona and never really needed to ever use the furnace while I was there since the small electric space heater I had worked just fine keeping me warm. I'm happy to say that my Holiday Rambler, though it was neglected and abused for years by its previous owner, is well insulated and not a problem at all to heat and cool.
