There may have been some contamination gotten on the burner.. But other thing that causes yellow tips is the gas/air mix.. Things that affect that are.....
Partially obstructed oriface (The gas jet on the back of the valve)
Regulator issues
Something in teh large tube between the valve and the burner
Something blocking part of the "Window" in said tube near the valve.
It could be as simple as routine cleaning UNDER the lid.
