Maybe a combination of JB Weld and Matches will do the trick. I will keep you posted.

Rivnuts are available for ANY material thickness. In a fiberglass sidewall, all that is necessary is for you to drill out the hole to get a solid round shape. Rivnuts are used regularly in fiberglass boats and many materials other than sheet metal. If you are really concerned about their holding ability, use some JB Weld around the Rivnut when it is clamped into place.
