sulfating your coach batteries

Someone mentioned this in another post, and I was thinking, whats your opinions on this? My magnum inverter has a function to do this , but I'm a little nervous about tying it. Is it a good idea, and will extend the life of the batteries, thanks, I'm sure everyone will be helpful.
