- Mr_Mark1ExplorerI, too, have never heard of anyone having a broken/cracked sunroof. I've had sunroof's in all my cars since 1984.
I have always worried about getting caught in a hail storm while on a trip (towing or a car trip).
I think you will have a higher chance of a broken windshield or headlight lens before a cracked sunroof. But, then there is Murphy's Law.
Good luck and safe travels,
MM. - BumpyroadExplorercan you buy one without the sun roof and save some $$$. I have had one on the last three vehicles I have bought and about the only time they have been opened is in trying them out to see if they work. which reminds me, I have to check the one in the Tacoma to see if it works.
bumpy - ArchHoaglandExplorerI've pulled toads with sunroofs 80,000 miles and no problems were encountered.
pointrow's neighbor is the only time I've ever heard of a sunroof getting cracked. - Corkey05ExplorerMy whole roof is glass ... not a scratch.
- pointrowExplorerYes. Camped next to a guy near Homer AK that had a broken sun roof from a rock.
Up there it was long wait to get replacement.
pointrow - rr2254545ExplorerCherokee has a huge sunroof - towed it over 21,000 miles no problems on the top or even any rock chips on the front
- Bruce_BrownModeratorOur Fusion has a sunroof, we've towed it since 2006, including a 5,500+ miles trip to Yellowstone and back without any issues.
My '16 F150 has that big sunroof - I love it!
