A cable and a lock are pretty cheap. All you have to do is make it a bit inconvenient for someone to lift it. I use one long cable and lock all of our bikes, the grill and anything else mildly tempting.
I thought it was pretty funny that someone would advocate one of these as a much cheaper preventative that the damage that one could sustain without one then blow off securing it by saying the odds are low that it would get stolen.
