Wildebill: That document has been updated at least 3 times. Some of that info is valid. No one should ever extend the oil change interval in a C7 or any other Cat running the HEUI system. Essentially you are using engine oil from the sump in a hydraulic system. No hydraulic tech would ever pour engine oil that has say 7000 miles into a hydraulic system! The short oil change interval has NOTHING to do with engine life. It is strictly a means to try and extend the life of the HEUI pump and avoid extensive repairs. A really dumb system!
