My 2002 Jetta TDI diesel got 20,000 mile oil change intervals up until I gave it to my son with 210,000 miles on her. My son is running it now. Has 300,000 miles on it. VW, just like MB, requires synthetic oils in their diesels.
Oh, the Cat HEUI pump. Cat has blamds their failure with that system on just about anything one can think of to get out of covering them under warranty. Plenty of them went using regular old diesel dino oil!!! In fact I'll dare say that most of them that died, died while using dino oil, and not synthetic!
