Synthetic oil changes
I just read a post from last October about someone asking if they could use synthetic oil in the generator. He received 3 pages of yes and no's and the general opinion is yes you can use synthetic oil...

Yes.
Before you fret over this too much, check your owner's manual or the oil fill cap for the recommended weight of oil.
If it starts with 0W or 5W then you pretty much have to use synthetic because "conventional" oil doesn't come in those weights.
Mobil oil has some oil rated for up to 10,000 miles with using their oil filter, however a 2014 is still under Fords warranty and you might want to do what they want till warranty is expired, if you throw a rod and had oil in there from 7000 miles ago they will use this to void your warranty and you will be stuck with the bill..
