Tag Axle problems on 2000 Pinnacle 3790

We have a 2000 Pinnacle 3790. The tag axle has failed and will need to be repaired/replaced. Has anyone else had this problem and how did you address it?

The second issue with this unit has been separation of the side walls from the floor allowing the walls and floor to move independently of each other and also for road grime to enter the living space. Has anyone encountered this situation and again what did you do to fix the problem. Thanks in advance for your help and advice.
  • The tag axle "failed". What does that mean?

    Air bags won't air up?
    The bearings went out?
    It went out of alignment?

What is wrong with the tag axle. It broke in two?
  • You most likely have the "Henchen Tag Axle System" that we have on our 2000 Residency 3790.

You may be able to get some assistance from this site of Airstream as they use the same type of axles.:

Here's another site with information on the Henchen axles:

As far as the wall separation from the floor, you'll need to remove the long molding strip on the outside under which you'll find screws that attach the sidewall to the floor.

The screws may be broken, if so, you'll need to remove a screw that isn't broken and try to find the same type of screw at a hardware store, perhaps Lowes or Home depot.

After finding matching screws you need to drill a hole in the sidewall in line and next to where all the broken screws are located then reattach the sidewall to the floor with the new screws.

If you're lucky and the screws aren't broken off, than all that's necessary will be to tighten the screws to bring the sidewall back tight against the floor.

That's how I fixed the same problem I had with my coach where the gap between sidewall and floor occurred on the driver's side just forward of the Living room slide out opening.

Good luck and let us know if the fix works.

Best of luck and safe travels...
