I always coat any lighting sockets or fuse sockets or basically all electrical connections with a coating of dielectric grease. It seals out moisture and prevents corrosion and makes removal of the lighting bulb much easier with no corrosion.
I also put a squirt of dielectric grease on any camp site power pedestal sockets prior to plugging in. This not only makes insertion and removal easier it keeps moisture away from the contacts.
