To the OP, if that works for you then do it. You can what if any possible scenario to the point of not driving the MOHO and just lock yourself into the house. A checklist sounds like a good idea to be sure you didn't forget anything. Also, I would continue to check all toad hookups again in the morning just to be sure nothing was messed with in the night.
Our travel plans are usually a bit more laid back, leaving by 10 AM is ahead of schedule and we are usually stopping between 3 to 4 PM for happy hour. After my wife retires in a couple more years we'll probably cut our travel time down to a 2-3 hours a day. :) Good luck and safe travels.
