Tank odors

In the past we stayed for several months in the same RV park in our MH. We used Exodor Bio-Pak drop ins for the black and gray tanks. Sometimes there was a horrible eggy smell when we dumped the gray tank. Was this because we were not on the move very often? Suggestions welcome on how to prevent black and gray tank odors.

We are going on a 6 month trip where we will be traveling more but sometimes staying for one month in the same RV park.

Thanks all.

  • hate to tell you this but bleach and urine do not mix very well. I bought a product called Happy Camper and I use it in both tanks. this stuff works great. even during the hot months of the year. go on line to buy it.
  • One time we had a bad egg / sulphur smell for several weeks. Tried everything, emptying the tanks, flushing them, several different types of chemicals, GEO method, ice cubes, etc. Finally I had a friend come over with a better nose than mine.

After going around the MH for an hour smelling and sniffing everything to include the top vents, we found that my inside, no maintenance, starting battery had cracked and were then overcharging. It was a two year old Decka. I certainly didn't expect to find that. I put in two new starting batteries and no more bad sewage orders after that.
