Tell me more about 303

So I see this come up frequently. frankly I'd never heard of 303 until I started coming to this forum. Typically I do a wash/wax combo about monthly and an actual hand wax 1x per year. It looks good but man what a chore. I read folks using 303 so I had some questions. First, does this replace the actual wax step? Wash/dry and then 303 and wipe off? Does it behave like a wax and protect it the same way? using this means I no longer have to hand wax? It says it dries to a matte finish. Don't we all want a gloss finish? Does it help prevent black streaks? What frequency is it applied - how long does an application last? How long does a 32 oz bottle last?

Sorry for all the questions but it's getting to be about hand wax time before winter and if I can forego that with 303 I may give it a try.

Thanks

BTW - I am not ready to try floor wax on my RV yet so you can skip those recommendations.

  • Aerospace #303 is a water base product invented by a Boeing Aircraft Engineer in Seattle, WA. Boeing uses it to shine up there airplanes.

I would only use 303 on vinyl or rubber. I would think it would not look too good on paint or gel coat. If you're looking for an easy wax, use Wash Wax All. You can clean the RV and put a protective wax on at the same time.

I use 303 on all my trim, tires and vinyl. It does a good job but does not last. Reapplication is required monthly. I too do not think it would work too well as a hand wax replacement, sorry to say.

Effy, I will also be interested to see what people say about a 303 wax although I didn't know that they made one.

I use 303 protectant on the tires to protect from UV rays and it gives the tires a 'clean' look, not glossy.

They don't make a "wax" per se. It's the same protectant. But on their site they say it's safe to use on gel coat - entire rv and will shine like a wax. So that was really what I was getting at. Can you use 303 on the entire rv as a/instead of "wax" ?

My experience with 303 is that it would smear. The directions say to spray it on the tires, don't wipe off. So, that's what I do and then clean the rims from the overspray with a damp clothe.

I like the idea of the above poster spraying the A/C shrouds. If I decide to go up on the roof, which I haven't done yet (so high up), I'll spray the fantastic vent covers too.

  • I try to use 303 on anything plastic or rubber , and vinyl.. ..With the new trailer , I even go on the roof and spray the black AC shrouds ..
  • If you have vinyl stripes, 303 IS the product to use on them. Wax will degrade the vinyl.

As Mark said, many use on their tires. Michelin no longer recommends any tire dressing (IMO because they could spend a lot of their time and money testing each new product-- not their job). But, 303 does not contain any silicone or petroleum distillates which are the two things Michelin cautions against.
