Kev,
Now I'm reminded of doing a clutch job on my '69 Cortina GT. Middle winter, no garage door, no heat. Gott'r done and found that the clutch plate was wrong. This was after the first 'faux-pas' .. while cleaning the tranny I dropped it through the mother-in-laws basement sink!!!! It drained so much better then...
So the 'tina came apart a second time. Re-assembled with a new part but couldn't get that dang spline on the transmission to line up with the clutch plate by my self. Finally bundled my wife up in long johns, parka, mittens, & boots and we both skittered under the Ford to jack, twist, turn, lever and urge that thing together. It just would not go on!!! I was already pissed and finally she lost her cool and gave the thing a hell of a kick tubo-boosted by a mighty oath!!! (Her father was, after all a NAVY Chief!!!) and that sucker slid on like it was greased teflon. I shot in a couple of quick bolts to hold'r while she stomped off muttering a few things I didn't really want to hear.... (Maybe I should have gotten her a pink tool set??)
You have brought back some fun memories...
