Another update:
Today drove from Portland to Ashland, Oregon. 299 miles, approx 32 gallons, calculated to 9.25 mpg. Not bad! Rolling hills. Some climbing. No wind. Tried to keep speed at 57 mph. On bigger hills I let the speed drop to 45 to 50 mph.
