The fridge won't work

I just set up at a campground and my Norcold won't turn on with electric power. The LP side doesn't work properly so I just always ran it on AC side. Today after I plugged in it keeps trying to turn on with LP. In my head that means it doesn't realize I have electricity. Any ideas?
  • I would suggest you take picture of circuit board it helped me when I had to unplug wires to change fuses. which was only a temporary fix I finally had to change board. Mine was acting the same as yours. Who ever thought going on vacation would be so much fun.
  • Thank you everyone. I have to head back to the MH and check all this out. (No WIFI at the site) Thank you all for the rapid response, it really means a lot. I will update tomorrow.
  • Many RVs have GFI outlets that are strung to different outlets. Check your GFIs, perhaps one is blown and the refer isn't getting AC. Mine is wired to the bathroom GFI.
  • And if you have AC power at outlet and the AC circuit breaker is not tripped and you have lights on fridge panel.....

Check the 5a Fuse in lower control power module.
In outside compartment. You will have to disconnect/unplug wiring on module in order to remove cover. 5a fuse is for electric circuit.

    Otherwise...could be power board failure

    What Model of Norcold??
  • I did reset the breakers with no change. I did not check to see if the plug is actually getting juice. One other thing I just thought of is I didn't check the GFI plug in the bathroom to see if it popped. That my be the same circuit breaker the fridge is on. That is where I am headed next.
  • It does have a switch to go from auto to gas. When I put it on auto it immediately goes to LP. It doesn't even recognize that the power is on. That is what is so strange.
  • Two things to check...if you have juice at the plug where the fridge plugs in, check the 120V fuse inside the black box. Use caution opening the box though, make sure you know where the wires go if they get disconnected....open the box, check the fuse...if blown, replace with correct one..check the breakers first though..don't simply look at them, turn them OFF then back ON....Dennis
  • Does your Norcold have a light that shows when the refrig has AC power? Mine shows green when AC unit has AC and orange when not. And this is probably not worth mentioning, but has the unit's switch been unintentionally been moved from "auto" to "gas"? (That's something I might do!)
  • While you MAY have electricity ( check your outlets to be SURE) the fridge may not. Take the cover off the outside and unplug the unit from the wall socket in the compartment and plug in a lamp or other appliance . If no workee check the breakers in your converter box.
    Good Luck, Mike
