The New 2016 Dinghy Guide is out

I didn't see anyone else post this so I thought I'd let everyone know that the latest 2016 Guide to Dinghy Towing is now out:

http://www.motorhome.com/download-dinghy-guides/

It's interesting to note that no foreign automatics made the list (no Honda CRV). The only approved vehicles to tow are lots of American cars and foreign manual transmissions.

They will pry my 2013 CR-V from my cold, dead hands! :B

I see that the Elantra and the Accent did not make the list either this year. These were towable 4 down in previous years.
  • 2gypsies, I had two Grand Cherokee's in the past ('96 and '99). My only reservation is that they were rather troublesome. I've really have enjoyed the reliability of the Honda product, I will miss it.

The Jeep Cherokee weighs in at about 4,000 lbs., the Lincoln at 4,200, the Wrangler at about 4,100. So, they are all in the same ballpark. The Honda is about 3,400 which I like.

After driving the 'big' bus all day long, it's nice to jump in a small car and zip around town and pull into small parking places. The Lincoln offers a really nice 'Ruby' red color that I like, the Jeeps 'Ruby' is more deep red/burgundy.

And, I really don't drive off road much, it's the ice and snow that it will come in handy for. I'm not sure how the ride is in a Wrangler, if it's choppy and rough, it will be a no-go. I'm too old for that now. :)

  • Mr Mark: The new Jeep Cherokee is a luxury car for a Jeep. It's beautiful. It's not the same as the Grand Cherokee.

The Lincoln is in another class.

Don't buy a Jeep if you're not going to use it off-road! That's where the fun is.

Yeah, I noticed that too. I'm thinking of changing out the Honda CR-V for a 2017 something...

There are two vehicles that have caught my eye...
    -Jeep Cherokee 4x4
    -Lincoln MKX AWD
I'm seriously considering a Jeep as well, but I think I'd like a Wrangler Unlimited.

I would like a toad to match the motorhome better color-wise and my sister is needing a newer vehicle as she has a 2002 Honda CR-V with 230,000 miles on it. She's not a car person but thinking the reliability may start changing because of the mileage on her car. So, she wants my 2013.

I have a burgundy/reddish stripe in the paint scheme that might be nice to match.
