" but don't want to be too cramped" so why are you looking at shorter DPs that do not need a diesel engine. For that kind of money you can find a higher end five year old 40' DP with less than 20K miles and all the bugs worked out plus no need of DEF fluid.
In the market for a short DP (Palazzo) too and there are lots of reasons. Mileage is probably a huge consideration. The Palazzo and newer short DP's can get double digit MPG. In a recent trip I took my 9MPG gasser to Fla I could have save several hundred dollars in fuel alone if I had a newer DP. I see a lot of folks on here tout used, used used. Well personally I would rather have new provided I can get a good deal on it. Despite what small issues have come up with our gasser and presumably a DP too, it's nice to have everything covered under a warranty. I also like that it's mine and no one else had it. You never really know what you get in a used unit. Sure they worked the bugs out but may have worked some in too. Technology has changed a lot too over the past few years and newer units offer the latest and greatest. There is also the thought that bigger used is better than newer small. Matter of preference I say. Most state parks we go to can't support a rig bigger than 35. And finally a bigger used gasser is not even close to a new DP despite how decked out it is. Not knocking used but it seems like when anyone asks a specific question about a newer unit a lot of folks tell them to look at older used units. To each his own I guess.
