Laminated in 2013 is NOT laminated in 1975. I would conclude that the cost of producing any rv reflects the materials used as one aspect of overall pricing. I see the ERA as a good quality product in many aspects not seen, such as heating ducting I have mentioned before. All wood cabinetry, solid or laminated(veneer) requires maintenance to keep it in new-like condition. By producing components noted, in house, unit costs can be lower and therefore the ERA can be produced cheaper than other brands. Seems like a smart plan to me.
